LutosAir Quintet

LutosAir Quintet consists of soloists of the Wrocław Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra: Jan Krzeszowiec, Wojciech Merena, Maciej Dobosz, Alicja Kieruzalska and Mateusz Feliński. The ensemble was formed on the 100th anniversary of Witold Lutosławski’s birthday. Its name derives from the patron of the philharmonic and combines part of his surname with the English “air”, which refers to the element which causes instruments to sound.

The flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn are wind instruments which usually reside out of the limelight, at the back of an orchestra. In this configuration, however, they are allowed to shine brightly. Either solo or in chamber ensembles, they are always enthusiastically received by the audience.

LutosAir Quintet plays many concerts, performing a wide-ranging, variegated repertoire. Works performed include those written for the classic wind quintet, but also for smaller ensembles – duet, trio or quartet. This formula enhances the enesmble’s offering even more.
